OK, I will admit this is probably going to be the least manly of drinks that will grace the pages of our digital magazine (unless we find a sangria recipe worth writing about). But whatever, we’re trying to put a modern twist on the Men’s Magazines of the 50’s and 60’s and that means putting drink recipes up that involve more than whiskey and beer.
Like the Pimm’s Cup, this is a refreshing summer drink that’s easy to make. Also, there’s not a ton of alcohol so you can just keep pounding them with reckless abandon and not become a hideous wreck.
The New York Times wrote an article about how these are not that good, but don’t take their word for it, they make guacamole with green peas. (For real though, Sam Sifton is the man. We like his recipes).
It’s not my favorite drink but it isn’t bad, I like Campari and Aperol is Campari’s citrusy cousin. Slightly bitter but it’s got that orange taste. Plus, any excuse to buy prosecco is worthwhile.
So here’s the recipe to Aperol Spritz:
- 3 oz Prosecco
- 2 oz Aperol
- 1 oz Soda Water
In an ice filled wine glass pour in the prosecco (or any sparkling wine), Aperol, and Soda water. Stir and garnish with an orange wheel. Boom you’re done.
