Victor Prezio (1924-1976) was a very prolific pulp artist best known for his work illustrating Men’s Adventure Magazines. Unfortunately, when it comes to biographies of Vic Prezio, that’s about it. He was very prolific, created eye-popping Men’s Mag and pulp paperback covers, and died at the age of 52 in 1976.
It’s a shame there isn’t much known about the guy. As you’ll see below he was a very versatile artist, with covers for Famous Monsters of Filmland that rival even Basil Gogos. But it was with the Men’s Mags that he really shined. Enjoy.
Steve Holland vs. Steve Holland
Below are some of Vic’s artwork featuring every Pulp Artists favorite model, Steve Holland (he’s also the guy to the Voodoo Priestess’ left in the cover above, and tied up in the one with all the Nazi girls with buttonless blouses). Everyone painted this guy, he was on too many Pulp Covers to count. Sometimes he’s fighting himself, sometimes there’s a whole platoon of Hollands—all in deep shit. He, and other pulp and pinup models are featured in this article we did a while back. Also, Subtropic Bob has written extensively about Holland and another pulp model Eva Lynd. There’s a book featuring Eva Lynd you can find here.
Horror Pulp and Sci-Fi Covers
Some of these are pretty metal.
Magnus, Robot Fighter
I’ve never read these but it seems to me like this guy Magnus (who looks an awful lot like Steve Holland) just beats the hell out of robots for a living.
